Jack Bilander, 1919 – 2008, was born in Poland and immigrated to the US as a child. He studied at the National Academy of Design, NYU, and Columbia, among others and his work can be found all over the world, including in the Library of Congress. Bilander has a following still today, made up of those who knew him from the Chelsea neighborhood of New York in the 1950s and 60s and people who have fallen for his work and began to collect it more recently. He was known as a kind and compassionate man who often gave pieces of his work away.

The piece titled The Beach is #25 in the run and is signed and in its original frame from Falcor Framing in Grammercy. The frame is approximately 24.5″ tall and 16.5″ wide. The etching (the part visible in the mat) is approximately 18.5″ tall and 10.5″ wide. I have not viewed it outside of the frame to know the actual size or any other markings. It is signed in pencil in the corner by Jack Bilander.
