Stunning art pottery by renowned ceramics artist William “Bill” Shinn (1932-2011). Approximately 14″ tall, 11″ wide and very heavy!

Shinn was admired for his fluid movements sculpting clay on the wheel and for his backpack trips through the desert in search of artistic inspiration. Shinn traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Russia, which furthered his recognition.

His experimentation with the ceramic extruder has produced many award-winning pieces. International show awards include the 48th International Ceramic Competition in Faenza, Italy, the Fletcher Challenge Ceramic Award Competition in Auckland, New Zealand, and the World Ceramic Exposition 2001 in Korea.

Shinn earned both his bachelor of arts degree and master’s in ceramics design at UCLA and was schooled in art at the famed Sorbonne and Academie Julian in Paris. He was still teaching ceramics out of his Santa Maria studio at the time of his death in 2011.
